The idea of being unique meaning the ability to handle multiple scenarios. I’ve often described myself in previous roles as a “hybrid” which has often been met sometimes with confusion and sometimes with negativity. In an “agile” world we have clearly defined roles that make up a SCRUM team and the conflicts of interest between a Product Manager and Scrum Master aids the path to efficient ways of working. But what happens when reality kicks in, resource is lost and teams are reallocated. I like to apply the themes of this article to many facets of life, moving away from the idea of ring fencing yourself to a job description or stereotype I can engage with different sports, social groups, political spectrum’s and take my own learnings away. Becoming an entrepreneur in 2017 taught me how being a “Polymath” is an absolute necessity in order to manage all stages of the SDLC, managing budget, scope and an offsite development team.
